Learn more about Bird Key
Located between downtown Sarasota and the famous St. Armand’s Circle, Bird Key is an exclusive island neighborhood with magnificent homes. That is probably the shortest and most precise description one can make. A total of 500 homes are on Bird Key. More than 300 homes have deep water docks and water access to the Gulf of Mexico, or at least a spectacular bay view.
Bird Key is a gated island community.
The new fixed-span “John Ringling Causeway” Bridge connects the gated island community to downtown Sarasota. The location of the key is more than ideal. Bird Key is the first island after crossing that bridge while driving towards Lido Key.
Therefore, the residents are just a few minutes away from the attractions and the excitement Sarasota offers. Besides that, the beaches of Lido Key, Longboat Key, and Siesta Key are not far away. Also, don’t forget the St. Armand’s Circle has a fantastic choice of restaurants with European and South American cuisine, bars, ice cream parlors, and shopping opportunities. Just make a left turn when leaving the community, and 2 minutes later, you are hitting the Lido Key with its famous St. Armand’s Circle.
Extravagant Waterfront Mansions
Of course, the prime locations are on the water. However, those non-waterfront homeowners enjoy at least a nice view of a tropical garden. They don’t need to pull their hair out if their home is not directly on a canal. With an island that small, there is always water around you.
Bird Key is a haven for boaters.
Can you imagine why Bird Key is called a “boaters’ heaven”? Once you had a closer look at the island, you will understand why “boaters’ heaven” is the best description of that tiny island.
You can already see the exclusive Bird Key Yacht Club from the causeway, where you can dine, play tennis, or go swimming. The yacht club offers boat docks for residents who are boaters but don’t have a slip in front of their house.
Bird Key is an intimate enclave.
Bird Key is an intimate enclave of its own. You can not compare this island with any other key on Florida’s Gulf Coast because it is different and not considered a barrier island. The size of the island, the location, the number of waterfront properties, and the luxury are unique. You also won’t see any high-rise condos here. The neighborhood is made up entirely of single-family mansions. No commercial activity is allowed on the key. How beautiful is that?
Who lives on such a unique island?
Of course, birds and pelicans live on Bird Key too! So who else lives there? Besides a mix of professionals, local doctors, lawyers and retirees, and even a few celebrities.
