Videos from The Florida West Coast Area
Manasota Key is a pretty quiet Barrier Island on Florida’s West Coast, right in front of Englewood. The northern and central parts are located in Sarasota County, while the southern part is located in Charlotte County. The section of the island that belongs to Sarasota County is entirely residential; the southern tip of the island is a mix of private residences, some restaurants, bars, real estate offices, boat rentals, and a State Park.
The public beaches on Manasota Key include Stump Pass Beach State Park, Englewood Beach, Blind Pass Beach (or Middle Beach), and Manasota Beach. The island itself has no big resorts, hotels, or multi-story condominiums. Most homes are tucked behind the lush greenery.
Don Pedro Island - Island in the Sun
Don Pedro Island is only accessible by private boat or ferry. Boaters can access the dock via a 2.5 feet deep channel which limits the size of the boat to max. 25 – 27 feet. Paddleboarders and kayakers have it easier. They can go through the shallow waters surrounding the island.
Don Pedro Island State Park is separated into two sections. The land base is an excellent spot where you can launch your kayak, while the island section is the place where you can soak up the sun and dip into the Gulf of Mexico.
