After crossing the drawbridge from the mainland to the "Island of Venice," you will arrive in a different world. The charming main street, called Venice Avenue West, is lined with palm trees and a diversity of small shops.You will find small unique boutiques, street cafe's, restaurants, beach accessories, antique shops, ice-cream parlors and bakeries while you stroll down the sidewalks. There is something for everyone. The historic downtown district runs parallel to Main Street. There you can find more interesting "stuff."
Venice downtown also hosts many events throughout the year: You can enjoy live music in the Centennial Park Gazebo, craft fairs and parades, wine festivals, are only some of them.
The Municipal Airport in Venice FL
The municipal airport is also on the "Isle." You can come to Venice with your plane, or if you want to do that in the near future, you can take flying lessons and fly in after you have passed the test.
People who are interested in flying but do not want to take lessons can book sightseeing flights or flights to some nearby destinations. Once in a while, they have events at the airport, too. You might also be able to book a flight from other airports to Venice, but the options are pretty limited.
