..and their two Neighbors to the North and the South
It is always nice to have friendly neighbors. Two huge bordering areas have a significant influence on Manatee-, Sarasota – and Charlotte County:
The “Greater Tampa Bay” area to the north, is the region including Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater. Like the Tri-County area in SW Florida, it can also be identified as a partnership created to promote economic growth. The counties belonging to this exquisite club are Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties.
About 4 million people live in the greater Tampa Bay area. Major employers are Baycare Health Systems, Publix, University of Florida, Verizon, JP Morgan, Coca-Cola, Honeywell Aerospace, PGT, Tropicana, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Sun Hydraulics and many more.
At the southern border of Sarasota County is Lee County. Lee County is indeed a very attractive location, too. It includes “famous” names like Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers Estero and Sanibel. Life is good and so is business down there.
The new International Airport makes Fort Myers an easy to reach destination for visitors from all over the world. Tourists love shopping, dining, and recreational options, and they are manifold. But the job situation is great as well in Lee County. The airport has proven to be extremely beneficial for the area. The airport itself created thousands of jobs. All the airlines also added employment and thousands of businesses are benefiting indirectly because people from all over the world are spending their money in the area.
