Punta Gorda, Florida, is centrally located between Sarasota and Fort Meyers, and in addition, it is also still within a comfortable driving distance to Tampa and Orlando.
Due to the proximity to Charlotte Harbor and the extensive canal system, Punta Gorda has an abundance of waterfront properties. Especially the neighborhoods of Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Isles offer many new and newer homes and condominiums on the water. Many canals, and especially deep water/sailboat water canals, are leading out to the Charlotte Harbor and subsequently to the Gulf of Mexico.

Charlotte Harbor and the Peace River offer excellent recreational fishing and other spectacular boating opportunities. The water is perfect for sailing boats, power boats, and small watercrafts, like kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes. If you don’t care about fishing or if you are already getting seasick by watching the pelicans floating by, you can play a round of golf instead. That activity will stabilize the horizon dramatically.
For example, you can go to the semi-private Punta Gorda Country Club, which is an 18-hole, par 72 golf course, and play a round of golf. They have a driving range and a pro shop. If you need to buy some new pieces of equipment, there you can get it effortlessly. If you want to rent clubs before you invest in new gear, you can do that at the pro shop as well. The people who run the facility are more than happy to make your day.

Downtown Punta Gorda presents its charm with picturesque renovated historic homes, royal palm-lined streets, brick lanes, historic street lamps, and its old Florida atmosphere. Punta Gorda has a beautiful waterfront area with a large harbor, marinas, and many waterfront parks, all of which are open to the public. Punta Gorda also offers a lot of art with museums, galleries, symphony, and theater.
